My Story

Here you have a glimpse into my personal background and past experiences which have led me to pursue a career in international education.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to expand on details!

Originally from Massachusetts, I grew up in a large Irish family and was first exposed to the world of travel as a child visiting my aunts, uncles and cousins in Ireland. As I grew older, I found myself more and more interested in studying foreign cultures, politics and language. I took this passion to college where I recieved a BA in International Relations with minors in Political Science and Spanish from Elon University. While in college I had the chance to study abroad in both Spain and Costa Rica, which impacted my future career path. Upon returning from Spain, I applied and was selected to be the student worker in the Global Education Center at Elon. It was during this work experience that I realized this career would be a perfect fit for me.

After college I worked in Spain as a Language and Culture Assistant in the

public school system. I fell in love with the culture, the people and the language

and felt immersed in the communities. When I returned to Boston, I began

working as a Spanish teacher in a Montessori school where I started a penpal

program between my former students in Spain and my 4th-6th grade class. I

shared cultural aspects with the students and gained much from their excitement

and enthusiasm for learning.

Ultimately, I decided to pursue my dreams to work in international education by pursuing my graduate degree in International Education Management. I was thrilled to be back in school and gaining the knowledge and skills necessary to encourage and advise on study abroad programs for U.S. college students. I feel that my life has led me to this point and I very much look forward to continuing my education whilst working in this field!
